Arrange Explorer Windows

Abstract

This feature allows to arrange the layout of the Explorer windows on the screen. You can arrange multiple windows side by side. If you want to use some of the file-managing feature (File Operations) you have to use the “Arrange two explorer windows” item first. The functionality of these features is provided by the DMEXAlign tool.

Arrange two horizontal

Two Explorer windows are arranged horizontal side by side. A new Explorer window is opened if necessary. The first of the two Explorer windows is the current while the second one is the next Explorer window in the window stack, which is the last used one.
After having arranged two Explorer windows with this function, some new features are available. If the default keyboard shortcuts were installed you can use CTRL+TAB to switch the focus between these two Explorer windows. Additionally some file-managing features become available. These features can be accessed from the File Operations menu.
The positions of the two explorer windows before their alignment are saved. If you use this function again from within one of the aligned windows, their original position is restored.

Arrange two vertical

Two Explorer windows arranged vertical one on top the other. A new Explorer window is opened if necessary. The first of the two Explorer windows is the current while the second one is the next Explorer window in the window stack, which is the last used one.

Arrange all horizontal

All existing Explorer windows are arranged horizontal side by side. Minimized Explorer windows are restored.

Arrange all vertical

All existing Explorer windows are arranged vertical one on top the other. Minimized Explorer windows are restored.

Set position

The explorer window is moved to its default position. By default this position is covering the whole screen.

Maximize height

The height of the current Explorer window is changed to the maximum size. (Screen height)

Minimize

The current explorer window is minimized. The focus changes to the next explorer window.

Save positions

The positions of all Explorer windows are saved. You can rearrange the positions of the windows later by using Restore positions.

Restore positions

The Explorer position which were saved before are restored. Windows, which have been closed since their positions were saved, are opened again.

New window

If a directory is selected, a new Explorer window opens showing the selected directory. If an Explorer window already exists showing this directory, the new window may not open, but bring the other window in front. If no directory is selected, a new window of the current directory is opened.

Close all

All Explorer windows are closed.
